Most of my professional friends and colleagues who have moved to Mumbai to make it big say there is more opportunity in Mumbai as far as the entertainment and film industry is concerned. New Delhi has become a hub of news channels. Also people there, are more professional in Mumbai.
One can say there are opportunities in Mumbai but there are also thrice the number of people going for the same opportunity or job. It's like a bee hive filled with honey and you can imagine the number of bees sitting on it.
I am a Delhiite and being in this industry for over 12 years has made me love this city even more. Somehow I never liked Mumbai, its roads its houses, lack of space. I never thought of going to Mumbai because I believe if you are good at your work city doesn’t matter. It might take little time to get the kind of work you wanna do but it will finally come. Talking of professionalism, 50% of the leading professionals in Mumbai are Delhiites.
My institute aims at creating professionals who are adaptable to any kind of work scenario and who are assets to their employers. People who think on their feet and above all have a strong belief in themselves and their colleagues. Teamwork is the key to be a successful media professional. I don’t mean success in monetary terms but success is when people you have worked with want to work with you again and again……
If a spot boy I had worked with 8 years ago greets me happily and asks, ‘How are you mam’? That is the most successful day of my life. Because at the end of the day its always the kind of person you are that matters more than the kind of work you do.
Be a better person and you will be a better professional
Cheers!
